Does anything surprise you?

Few things surprise me anymore. But if something does surprise me, more and more each day, it’s the talent that I find in the poorest children. The potential of the most helpless (disadvantaged) children.

Why do you think this talent is there?

I imagine that it’s the product of God’s will, that He wants to entrust the greatest spiritual treasure to the most helpless (disadvantaged) child, and then (considering) the circumstance that this is a country with challenges, yet it is also open, with broad horizons and many paths, as Rómulo Gallegos has called it. We are at the crossroads of those horizons. My message is that every musician in the world should become an apostle of his/her art and dedicate his/her life to planting the seed of art into (the lives of) children and converting his/her music into an instrument of service to humanity.
